Sthira ~ steadiness Maintaining commitment to these essential principles of practice brings us closer to the realization of yoga’s potential for each of us as individuals. Whether your practice is a fiery-intense vinyasa flow, or a deeply introspective meditation, or just the first steps into the world of yoga practice, practicing the 5 Commitments will make your practice stronger, safer, more energizing, more inspiring, and more satisfying. What is important in a yoga practice? When we "reach for the top" what are we actually reaching FOR? Where do we put our effort to maximize our time and energy and get the most possible benefit from our time on the mat? In this weekend retreat J-P will lead us on an exploration of The 5 Commitments, the essential principals for getting the most out of your yoga practice. TeachersJ-P is the founder of Ahimsa Yoga, a style of yoga intended to bring the most appropriate an satisfying yoga practice to each practitioner, regardless of physical condition, age or level of experience. J-P began teaching in 2001 and was a regular teacher at some of Toronto's premiere studios (Downward Dog Yoga Centre, Breathe Yoga Studio, the Yoga Sanctuary). In 2005 he co-founded the Octopus Garden Yoga Centre with friends, co-teachers and partners Pat Linfoot and Scott Davis. In 2010 came the realization of a long-growing vision of "what yoga could be" when J-P presented the Ahimsa Yoga practice, and opened the Ahimsa Yoga Centre. Over the last 10 years he has taught numerous retreats internationally & within Canada, has been principle trainer in several teacher training programs at Ahimsa Yoga Centre, Octopus Garden Yoga Centre and Breathe Yoga Studio, as well as being a guest instructor in a number of additional programs. He has appeared in many charitable events as a featured guest instructor, teaching groups of up to 400 people! In August of 2011, J-P will be a featured instructor at the Yoga Festival Toronto. J-P began his yoga training in 2000 at the Downward Dog Yoga Centre in Toronto, where he studied intensively with Diane Bruni and Ron Reid. His practice, as well as the development of Ahimsa Yoga was greatly influenced by his time with Ron & Diane, as well as his studies with Peter Blackaby, John Friend, Rod Stryker, Natasha Rizopolous, and Chuck Miller & Maty Ezraty, in addition to time spent with his spiritual inspiration, Amma. J-P is married to fellow yoga teacher and founder of Navina Yoga studio, Michelle Tamblyn-Sabo. FoodYou will be nourished with life enriching whole foods prepared with
